Yvonne I did get your text and responded... my air conditioner decided to quit late Friday afternoon, earliest I could get an appointment was Sunday at 1!
I told the company that put it in 2 years ago that just wasn't going to fly. Guess what, they told me to essentially pound sand because that was the best they would do.
I ended up spraying water on it to get it to run, an old trick I learned and it got me through the weekend. But turns out today when the guy got here, it was a bad Start/Run Capacitor. The capacitor was weak and the fan motor was running under voltage and overheating and kicking off. The trickle of water kept it cool enough to run. I have experience with a bad start capacitor on my old system, in fact I keep a spare in the garage but never knew a start/run capacitor could cause the system to run making a lot of extra noise... but sure enough a new capacitor it is quiet as can be and runs perfectly.
So I learned something today, with a Carrier system you need to by a big start/run capacitor and keep it on hand, it's easy to change and they do go bad and that'll save me $300 next time. Lesson learned hope this helps someone else, always have a spare capacitor even if your unit is only 2 years old like mine.
