Memorial Day Ride
I haven't posted here for awhile. Moved my parents in with me late last year and now they have both passed. I'm glad to have spent that time with them. So...where to go on Memorial Day? My first thought was to put a St. Andrews flag on my Great, Great Grandfather's grave. He rode with Captain Hazzard's 4th GA Cavalry. However, those are hard to com by now that everyone is so PC. Or put Old Glory on dad's grave but the marker is not there yet. He survived a trip to Murmansk in 1944. After some thought and planning I decided to ride to Olustee Battlefield up North of me. Beautiful morning and almost no traffic. Northern Alachua County even has some Z axis geometry features. The battlefield is relatively small but nice none the less. It's sobering to think of our ancestor's courage in battle no matter which side they were on. Or which conflict.

St. Andrews flag is a Scottish banner. I don't know how PC people are where your grand pappy is buried, but most people I know would not know a St. Andrew flag. I have always wanted to visit Olustee Battle Field. It was a small battle, but was still...one of the largest in Florida, is what I learned from reading about it. Glad you got out to ride. I hope to get my bike back from the shop no later than mid July. They started ordering parts middle of the week.
