Wow, I just read in the Palm Beach Post, but can't see the article now, that FDOT is planning a Turnpike Expansion, 10 lanes from SW10th St to Atlantic Avenue, and 6 lanes through Boynton.

And, this is unbelievable, they are going to put Express Lanes in the whole stretch of S Fl, where there will be an additional toll! These additional tolls will vary depending on traffic density.

So we'll be paying to use the road plus more to go in the left lanes. Not to mention all the upheaval again of roadwork for years.

 

If it is toll by plate, I am good since they can't see my plate under my tourpak!! I haven't paid a toll since I have had my Ultra Limited!!

 

Northbound Turnpike gets jammed up every day just past Sample Rd.
Mostly due to the crappy interchange of the Turnpike & Sawgrass Expressway.
The 1000 ft exit lane from Turnpike to the Sawgrass is shared by the traffic exiting Sawgrass coming onto the Turnpike. Daily Disaster.
Oh, and the people in Boca have been complaining for years, that they only have one exit on the Turnpike (Glades Rd). Adding one at Yamato would make sense, but I doubt that they have that in their plans.
But yeah. Express Lanes is the answer. Pffft.

 

They are doing the same thing to the Beachline (Beeline) toll road here. Adding extra lanes now. Read that they are going to charge extra for those lanes plus the normal toll for those lanes.
And I-4 from north of Orlando to almost to Disney they are adding toll lanes.

 

Mosquito control and air conditioning wrought the twin plagues of snow birds and toll roads. My heart pines for the days before Florida was franchised and cross fenced.
