The Gables are nice, but traffic is really bad down there, same as with Coconut Grove.
There are many amazing homes there though, and you will find more native english speakers there than any other place in Dade county.

The only other places in Miami that are mostly english speaking, basically means the ghetto. Hood rats are too stupid to learn spanish, but they have figured out the metric system pretty well... Go figure.

North Broward is nice, but that is changing... daily.

For the record, I had more people trying to run me over when I was visiting family in Pensacola, than where I live in North Broward.

Just stay sharp, and in the left lane to avoid the old people pulling into traffic without looking, and you will do just fine.

I work in teh Gables on Alhambra, nice place, a little too Payton Place for me to live though. Some good places to go out for drinks and food. English has never been an issue for me down there unless on 8th street or some areas of Hialeah. Traffic is the biggest issue.

lived here my whole life....

English mostly areas...Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Palmetto bay, Perrine, Pinecrest. Those areas are mostly South Florida natives. Higher priced homes...but some of them are beautiful.

Traffic sucks during rush hour, but it is pretty predictable. It's fairly easy to get around as the streets are laid out like a giant grid. Miami is very diverse and difficult to define. Miami is understood to be pretty much everything from the beach to the glades and from Ft. Lauderdale to the start of the Florida Keys. Scattered in between are a ton of smaller cities and communities, each with their own personality.

What are you looking for in moving down here? Buy a home? Have a job waiting?

I love it down here but at times I can't stand it. I like wide open spaces and trees, but I love the ocean. The good thing about being down here is that if you get tired of the scenery you can drive about an hour in any direction and get what you want...except mountains. Closest thing to that we got is land fills. Which reminds me...stay out of Cutler Bay in the Summer. The smell of garbage and the mosquitoes are a bad combination.

For the record...we do have a lot of rude people here. Southern hospitality stops at the Dade-Broward line. Further north in some places. But you can still find some people that are willing to help you out and are very nice.

Default Living in SE Fl.

Don't be alarmed at post down grading SE Fl. It's a nice place to live and work.
I've been here about 20 years and can't think of any other place I want to be.
Not many twisties to crank on the revs but, you will love it.
The first year, you'll hate the heat. Second year, all will be normal to your body.
Females on the beach, well, just a quick will make you want to stay, no matter your age or taste in woman styles or shapes.
Good food, places to be out, people to see and meet.
Watch out for CARS and OLD FARTS. In cars, they aim at you. Old people, can't see or hear. I'm 73 and I know. I consider myself in good shape.
Go armed, where ever you are or will be, always, here or there!!!!

Amazes me how people restart old threads from years ago as though they are current conversations. Reminds me of talking to my grandfather with his dementia.
