Default Any Experience with Grey Beards Cycle Barn in Mims?

Hey -
I'm in Columbus GA and looking for a bike. The folks at Grey Beards Cycle Shop in Mims (at the space coast) seem to have a couple of good-looking bikes at fair prices.

Does anybody have any experience with this shop?

IF I decide to go this route, anybody live close enough they'd be willing to ride by and take a look for me? I'll pick up the tab for gas and a little sumething something for your time.

IF I decide to go this route, and IF the Grey Beards and I can settle on a price, anybody willing to pick me up at Orlando airport and give me a lift out to the dealership some friday night or saturday morning? The deals look almost good enough to make it worth a one-way flight in and a ride back.

I know a guy that lives by me that bought an 04 from him and he was real pleased with the deal he got and sings their praises all the time. I am on the other side of the state so I am not going to be much help but someone in that area should chime in. What kind of bike are you looking for? I have an 07 Softail Custom for sale that is priced right.

You're just about the same distance form me as Mims.

From NADA/KBB, I'm going to guess you're out of my price range, but I'll ask. What is "priced right," and do you have pics?

If the deal is right, I'm up for a road trip if it's less than 8 hours from home, and for an amazing deal, I'll fly out and ride it home.

Since you asked:
My Dream/fantasy bike is:
  • 2006 or 2007 non-heritage softail
  • dark blue/light blue two-tone
  • No damage - a true Garage Queen
  • low miles - under 10k
  • solo and 2-up seats
  • Big Radius or Short Shots exhaust (w/baffles)
  • detachable bags and backrest a bonus
  • Not buried in chrome, but also not completely blacked out
All for less than $10,000 ... hey, I said it's a fantasy.

What I hope to find ... and will probably keep looking until I find:
2004 or newer
Clean title, in hand
Fuel Injected
Not black (prefer two-tone)
Stage 1
Deuce, Deluxe, standard, (non-Heritage softail), wide glide, FXDL, FXDC
Forward controls
detachable bags and backrest a bonus
Not buried in chrome, but also not completely blacked out
Under 20K miles
a "good deal" - a couple $K under book, or some other subjective "deal" that rings my bell
$10,000 is my absolute limit "out the door" - the farther under that I can get, the better.

Deal breakers:
  • Salvage title (absolute)
  • Lien on title, unless the seller is willing to do ALL the work to go through Harley "Help you sell." (I qualified at an Atlanta shop for 4.6% on a used bike over the weekend.)
  • High Mileage (>10K/year) (I know that's not high for a "real" biker, but my last bike had 50K on the clock when I got it. This time I want something that's newer.)
  • Undocumented significant engine work (cams, Stage 2/3, bore kits, etc.)
  • Fishtail exhaust, 16" or higher apes
  • Black - unless it's everything else I want and an amazing deal.

Oh well, Its a Black 07 with 32k on it so It does not sound like what you want. I am looking to get around 9k (negotiable) for it. It has detachable bags (ez brackets) , detachable windshield, Two seats and the original spoke 21" front wheel.

He only used it to run out for a pack of cigarettes.

On Sunday mornings, right?

That's a good-looking bike. You won't have any problem selling it ... not QUITE qhat I'm looking for, though.

Back to Greybeards, I bought my 04 Ultra from them and would recommend them to anyone.

One thing to mention though - while their bike prices are very good, they are VERY, VERY proud of their used parts and accessories. I would go elsewhere for that stuff.

I would take a saturday ride down to look at the bikes at Grey beards. I am about an hour
North near Daytona Beach.
I would pick you up at the Daytona airport. I tend to stay away from Orlando.

Thanks to everybody for the help and suggestions.

Turns out my anticipated tax refund is actually the other way around - I planned poorly with some investment liquidation last year.

It'll be at least a couple more months before I can get back in the wind. Sigh.
