Hello, I am former Floridan now living in Cleveland. I am thinking of locating back to Florida Ocala, any tips on jobs or any info on living there would be helpful. I am not far form retiring and tired of winters here Thanks

 

I sure do like riding east of Ocala. Lot's of horse farms, pretty country.

 

From a riding perspective Ocala offers some of the best. The Ocala National Forest and Horse country out west are great. As far as work, you would be just north of the infamous I-4 corridor but in and around populated areas that depending on your skill set may offer opportunity. Marion County unemployment is still below the State average but slowly getting better.

 

Wait a Min you said retire than ask about Jobs , we don`t need any workers we need bike ridin retirees.

Ocala is pretty, but all things being equal, I suspect there are more jobs to be had in the Orlando area.

 

Ocala is one of the coldest areas in Central Florida. Nothing like Cleveland, just don't to hear the complaints that go "I THOUGHT FLORIDA WAS WARM!" It rains here, muggy as heck in summer. We have bugs twice a year for a month at a time that will disolve your paint.
We don't have a state income tax and is a 'right to work' state (don't have to join a Union). Eat grits with butter, not sugar.
I don't care how you did it up North. Welcome.

I live in Ocala and love it. Awesome riding! If you transfer here with a job, you are good. If you come looking for a job all I can say is good luck. And if you find one it will pay very little. Orlando, or some of the other more metropolitan areas, will offer more opportunity there.

 

Thanks for all the information sounds like a nice place. I just need a filler job until I retire (real close) as I am presently laid off and nothing here in Cleveland for jobs. So just thinking ahead to move to fl now instead of later since I have the time off now.

 

If it winds up being the Ocala area let me know. I know a few roads around here. Might even show you Ft. McCoy!
