Michigan Repeals Helmet Laws, Injuries Soar

Your welcome to your opinion. And your choice. What I do is none of your concern. I don't need to have the government making my decisions for me or running and controlling my life. Also usually find pro control freak numbers so much BS. And skewed in their favor.
What do you think? I like having the option personally...

No question it's safer to wear a helmet. But it would be even safer to not ride a bike. I prefer it it to be a personal choice, and keep the government out of it.
I think new riders should wear a FF until they get at least 10k miles of experience. My son's a paramedic, and he told me about a guy who crashed about thirty mph, no helmet. His brains were oozing out his ears. So I at least wear a 3/4 helmet.

1. Just like every other political argument, nothing posted here will change anybody's mind.
2. Self solving problem. Google "Darwin Award Winner".
3. I would fully agree that everyone should be able to make their own choice, as long as their medical insurance coverage is voided if they're not wearing a helmet, because otherwise their million dollar rehab bill will go into the total risk pool and make my ****ing premiums go up.

From the article:
It would seem to me that before the law everyone was wearing a helmet, therefore it is not surprising that after the law there was "four times as many unhelmeted riders admitted".
Not very scientific. It sounds like someone has an agenda. Why are only the three months before and three years after compared in the data? Why not three years before vs three years after? That usually only happens if the data don't bring the desired result. It usually emanates from the people who don't want anybody riding a motorcycle.
Roughly four times as many helmetless riders were admitted to the hospital than before the law change.

I have been saying this for years. The truth is, there's a lot of people who just don't like anyone riding a motorcycle, so they're going to make them wear helmets in 100 degree heat to discourage it.

Your exact argument could be used for outlawing motorcycles altogether. It would be safer if everyone drove a Volvo.

I always wear a helmet, but I don't believe this thread will change anyone's opinion about helmets. Pictures like the one in the article don't help our image with the cager public either. Oh, well. Time to polish my bike since it is supposed to snow in a few hours.
