Default OEM Mufflers on 2014 StreetGlide Question

So...on my 2007 Road King, the OEM Mufflers are not "balanced"...what I mean by that, is the Left one is only porting around 20% of the exhaust, and the right 80%...and the Y Pipe does the "pulse" to balance between the exhaust.

But on the newer bikes, the Catalic Converter seems to be in the X Pipe, and given that, would the OEM Stock mufflers off a 2014 Streetglide allow the same amount of exhaust, say 50/50, as long as I had a true Dual headpipe?

I want to get back closer to stock, quieter etc...so am planning to kind of detune mine now, by removing the Bassani Fishtails, Big Sucka intakes, but might want to keep the true duals headpipe, and re-do the map a bit to run richer etc. Its so hot running in slow traffic, and I've done all kind of performance crapola, hate the oil cooler route etc, and just want to get it back to cooler and quieter.

Let me know on that muffler question if you know one way or the other.
Thanks, Joe

I'm interested in the response as well. I'm thinking of doing the fullsac true dual conversion but I'm worried about the exhaust not being balanced. I realize I can go with a set of aftermarket slipons but the leo's up here are really stepping up enforcement on "noisy" Harleys.

Default RE: OEM Mufflers on 2014 StreetGlide Question

Hey Rev,
I hadn't had any updates on this...so went ahead and checked with a Harley Dealer and also with the guys at Fuel Moto...and on the ones with the Cat Converter in the head pipe they are balanced for the exhaust porting. The reason they have different part numbers is they each have some clearance indent facing inward and they are not interchangeable from left to right. So hope that helps ya.

The left muffler gets much less air flow than the right due to the underpass from the right to the left.

You can feel with your hand that the left pipe flows much less.

Yeah, that was what concerned me about my original set-up with the pipes.
But the equation now is with the headers changed and replaced with a True Dual header.

So as far as the 2 people that replied to me (Harley and Fuel Moto) the OEM Mufflers on a True Dual should flow equally.

I'll verify this later today once I slap the OEM Mufflers onto the Ful Sac Dual Headpipes I have. If I still have a problem I can always go back to the Y Pipe , but hope to be able to keep it simple. Thanks for your reply.

On a 2014 streetglide both mufflers are internally the same.

You are not wrong, but that has nothing to do with the mufflers.
