Default Open your Garage Door w/your phone

Since garage door opening seems to be a 'hot topic' on the forum .... have run across a relatively new wrinkle ... Chamberlin [garage door people] has brought out a thing called MyQ that allows one to use a smartphone to do this,

Why they call it 'MyQ' is not clear to me but the concept seems pretty handy .. have seen them on street price ~ 130 for a module that will attach to any existing GD opener and have found them integrated into some openers. It's a pretty interesting idea and altho the price may be high it seems clear that that will come down [probably a lot] since doing this is pretty simple given all the home automation stuff coming on line ... so if you want to save the hassle of putting a GD opener in/on your ride .... cheers

...and picking up yer phone?

the tips and tricks sticky has 403 posts of GDO's ( so many we now have an acronym)

an existing GDO can be incorported into the high beam, turn, signal horn or added switch for under $20.

maybe $10.

I use a relay on my high beam switch.

hands stay on bars, flick the switch...

I think it would be more of a PITA to dig out your phone, find the right app, then open the garage with it versus just incorporating a simple opener.

I this it's a good idea but a little expensive. There are some on Amazon that are cheaper but I have never heard of the brands. I would like one that would let me check and make sure I didn't forget to close the garage door. More than once I have ridden back by the house to make sure I closed the door.
