I have an older paid for bike as well that according to most posters I couldn't give away because it's the "worst year ever". It's a 2007 Road King with 40000 miles. My bike has never let me down and I would think nothing of riding it 1000 miles tomorrow. I wanted a stereo and went with an aftermarket fairing. That and a tourpak for the wife's shoes etc and I have a quasi Ultra that I can strip down to a RK in under 5 mins. The fairing does take a while to get used to. Total cost was about 4 months payments. Twice this summer during trips I have had to wait for partners on their new bulletproof bikes due to breakdowns. Voltage Regulator on one and coolant puked on the other.
All machinery fails eventually but I hate making payments on a toy. It kind of takes the fun factor out of it for me. When mine breaks I'll fix it. To each their own though. Just my.02!

Hey Pumba11, be sure and post some pics of that new bike when you get it.

Go for the 2015 Limited! I had a few misgivings about getting rid of my Road King, but I got to say the Rushmore Limited is the best bike I have ever owned. The water cooled heads, engine, brakes and overall comfort are amazing! A BIG step up all the way around.

I ride my Limited more and look for more excuses to ride it than I ever did with my Road Kings.

My wife and I bought a 2014 Limited a couple weeks ago. She insisted that I not sell my 2002 RKC! I'm happy about that, and I know that I would greatly regret selling the RKC. I'm quite happy to have two completely different bikes.

I understand wanting to keep the 99. But knowing what I know now (I've owned a '14 touring for a year), I'd sell the 99 outright, put the money toward the '15, and not look back.

I just posted this same question. I have an 03 king that 2 years ago I added a bagger brace and ohlins shocks to. This last year, a complete motor rebuilt out to 107" all bore along with front fork work. Lots of money. Still all paid for. I never had issues with the bike first 85,000 miles. This year, the stator and starter went out and some wires have worn (FI). When I started putting money into the motor this spring, I knew I'd be keeping it for life. Wanted to anyway. Now the question is a 14/15 or a used 09 and up. Keep your 99 and add a new bike or just keep your 99. It's paid for and reliable. You will get almost nothing on a trade.

Keep the old one. Traded a carbed 01 EGC on a 14 UC. Wish I hadn't.
