Default The only reason I'd remove my tour pack

Would be to swing my leg over the seat without a thought. Years of riding a solo seated shovel, no bitch bar on this rascal, haven't prepared me for the roundhouse kick clearing motion required to keep my boot outta the backrest/pack. I've got it covered, but it ain't something i like most about my Ultra. Just sayin

smart mounting is done from the right side of the bike- that way if you loose balance you push the bike onto the stand.

watch a motor officer.

Makes sense but balance isn't as much of an issue as the kung fu kick required to get my boot above and beyond without contact. I can manage, just seems like my 6'6" frame would benefit the action. Don't work for me, probably just a cranky hip and the left knee replacement. Not a deal breaker, love the pack-love the bike- just sayin.

I always mount from the right, step through, not swing over.

Maybe that's the ticket.

I step through as well, from either side. It feels awkward, but I can't find a way to throw a leg over without hitting something.

What sucks is that now it also feels awkward when I throw a leg over my Fat Boy!

Guess so, gotta be easier than the swing over. Even with my height that isn't working for me. Thanks

I have the mount down, but I frequently deliver a cringe-worthy blow on the dismount.
