Air Ride install- 2014 SGS

I did not use a kit. I pieced together an air ride system with a bunch of separate items. You will see many companies selling these exact items in a "kit" for anywhere from $600 to $1,000 and you are getting the same thing with the list of parts below for $300.00!! The cost can vary based on what fittings you use, gauge you want, compressor, etc...

I put this together based on an air ride thread at choppedbaggers.com
the thread is here: http://choppedbaggers.com/forums/sho...8-Air-ride-101

Here are the parts I used:

Air compressor: Viair 098C compressor- $75
http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/via...98-p-5820.html

Air shocks: Monroe MA785 Max-Air Air Shock Absorber $50 to $70 on Amazon- these come with enough tubing to run the system. I bought more from airedup.com but did not need it...it is cheap though so more is better than not enough

Dump Solenoid: Grainger Valve,Solenoid,1/8 In Item no: 6JJ52: $50

Airedup.com: fittings and 1/8" DOT tubing
2 x 1/8" OD Prestolok Tube Union Tee (164PLP-2) $13.52
1 x 1/8" Tube to 1/8" NPT Prestolok Female Connector (66PLP-2-2) $6.17
4 x 1/8" OD Tube to 1/8" NPT Thread (W68PLP-2-2) $5.98
1 x Air Lift 200 PSI Single Needle Air Gauge (AIR-26227) $19.99

Parts express- electronics
DPDT Mini Toggle Center Off Momentary Part # 060-340: 1 $2.30
12 VDC 5-Pin Relay Socket For Bosch Type Relay
Part # 330-075: 1 $2.45
12 VDC Waterproof 5-Pin Bosch Style Relay SPDT 30/40A with Metal Bracket Part # 330-079: 1 $3.97

Compressor $75
Solenoid $52
Shocks with tubing $60
Gauge $20
Fittings- switch-relay $60
Sleeves-Lowes $ 5
Total $272

Wish I could copy & paste with this nook, but since I don't know. Search paddle switch air/electric that is what I use, it is a mechanicle dump & turns the pump on also. Hopefully this weekend we will have a house & be able to get our computer back up & running. I hate being homeless, but glad it is just temporary. Between my smart phone going down & moving, having to use this nook, it is driving me crazy. But using the switch,it deletes the dumpvalve. They have been using them on the trucks for years & it simplifies the job (my opinion). I used a dumpvalve from a Lincoln when I first did it, aside from them usinga odd size tube size, it worked ok.

Are you guys happy with the way they ride as far as handling and the ride comfort. I dontvreally wanna give up either thats my biggest concern with goin this route. Other then that im all about doin it. Other thing is ive sewn where guys have had trouble with the right side axle nut hittin the pipe. What did you guys do to solve that if you had that issue my guess of a solution is simple. Bang a little dent in the pipe no one is gonna see it anyways.

I love how mine rides. The thing i like best is the adjustability...makes switching to two up or getting into bumpy roads a breeze...Just add more air. yes the axle nut does touch the pipe but only if you have it aired all the way up on I've never had aired up that high with myself or two up. It doesn't touch enough to do any damage and when riding it never touched. Only if you got the rear wheel of the ground could I see it being an issue...if that happens while riding your worrying about other things :-)

anybody consider using a universal power window switch in the dash for air up and dump? found them for 5 or 6 bucks and they have arrows pointing up and down

(1) Monroe MA785 Max-Air Air Shock Absorber 63.47 @ Amazon

(1) VIAIR 98 Viair 98C 12 Volt Air Compressor Kit 74.95 @ Amazon You can use the 92c I just went with the guy thinking "bigger is better"

(1) DC 12V 1/4 Inch Electric Solenoid Valve for Air Water 10.53 @ Amazon there is a ton of solenoids out there this one seems to be very robust and priced right

(1) Waterproof 3 Position On-Off-On Toggle Switch 19.95 @ Amazon this is a VERY nice switch I love how the leads come out of the switch no little screws or eyelets to mess with makes for a clean install

(1) Viair 90087 2.0" White Face Illuminated Single Needle Gauge 13.95 @ Amazon this matches the factory SG gauges pretty good

(1) AGT 12V Waterproof Wireless Remote Control DC Universal 2-Channel Output LED/Lights 13.99 @ Amazon I went with this remote because I liked it was water proof and it only has two channels one for up one for down with no extra buttons not being used

(1) Male Run Tee, 1/4 In, Thread x Tube Item # 36W928 4.52 @ Grainger.com this fitting screws into the pump one hose goes right to the gauge the other goes up to the tee below

(1) Union Tee, 1/4 In, Tube x Tube Item # 36W764 4.66 @ Grainger.com ok this tee connects to the fitting above then one hose goes to the dump valve (solenoid) the other goes to the Y below

(1) Y Union, 1/4 In, Tube x Tube Item # 36W852 5.51 @ Grainger.com ok this fitting is to split the air lines from one to two one going to each shock

(2) Plug In Reducer, 1/8x1/4 In, TubexPlug In Item # 36W672 2.32 ea @ Grainger.com I really wanted to run 1/4 all the way into the shocks but the Monroes shocks will only accept 1/8 into their body so I used these to reduce from 1/4 to 1/8

(2) Male Elbow, 1/4 In, Thread x Tube Item # 36X118 3.37 ea @ Grainger.com screw into each side of the dump valve

(1) Female Connector, 1/4 In, Thread x Tube Item # 36X151 4.59 @ Grainger.com fitting for back of gauge make sure to tape the treads or they will leak

(1) Tubing, 1/4 In OD, 50 Ft L Item # 2LZF3 21.91 @ Grainger.com

(1) Tubing 1/8 In OD came with shocks

***WORTH NOTING THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT THAT LOUD IT IS ECHOING OFF THE SHOP WALLS****
