I went from a Sporster to a Limited. I had no problem. The limited seemed huge at first but I quickly got used to it. FYI I owned the Sporty for 16 years so I had some experience on the road. GO FOR IT!

Biggest difference for me... my 120 mile days on the Sportster turned into 300 mile days on the Road King. After 3 seasons and 12,000 miles on the Sportster I put 11,000 miles on the RK in one season. Could I have done the same mileage on the Sportster? Yes. Would it have been as easy, as enjoyable, and as comfortable? Hell no.

You would love it! Just like any new bike...u just keep riding it to get use to it...go back to basics by doing figure 8s etc, get familiar with the weight and it eventually feels lighter

On a Sportster, long rides are to be endured.

On a road bike they are to be celebrated.

These ^^.

I've gone from two Sportsters, to a Super Glide Custom, and now I'm thinking about a Road King.

Everyone in this thread who says anything like "I've ridden my Sportie from Miami to Seattle and it was just fine!" is missing the point. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there have been more people who rode friggin' bicycles coast to coast than there have been people who rode Sportsters from coast to coast.

Can you do it? Of course. Is that what the bike is for? No.

I just moved up from a sportster superlow to a new road King. I absolutely love the handling on the rk. I did have to drop the rear with SG shocks and I need to narrow my seat but I'm only 5'5" so that just to make it fit me. I can also say my back doesn't miss the sporty either much smoother ride. If u want to ask ?'s pm me. I'll be happy to help.

I put a little over 20k miles on my sporty in 3 years and I've got over 2kbon my rk.

I also went from a 1200 sportster to a road glide with 10 years in between. Yes, the sportster I learned on but I rode it for years. Fun but not comfy enough for two up riding. The road glide is another matter. Lot more heavy but, once rolling, I cant tell the difference. More power as well. Wit the wife on I cant really tell. On the sportster I could.

It will be different, just take your time and enjoy it. Dont let it go to your head.

That was my experience too. The only part that may be slightly more difficult is low speed (i.e., parking lot) maneuvers. If you haven't already, get Ride Like a Pro. The techniques they explain will have you whipping u-turns in no time.
