Default Touring through Kansas/Missouri

I was thinking of touring the 25 miles from my house to see the Royals kick the **** out of the Giants tonight. But then again, I will be quite comfy on my couch and have a whole lot more money in the bank.

GO ROYALS

I'm sorry, but when I saw the words "tour" and "Kansas" in the same sentence I almost spewed my drink!

I dunno. I've found touring through Kansas to be almost an out of body, space alien type thing.

Touring in Kansas can be lots of fun. Last week I took a ride out by "The" tree. You know is a little beyond "The" curve. It was exciting.

Here is a photo of our curve in Kansas. Also, the fallacy of "our tree" can be repudiated by the huge grove of trees seen in the background near the curve. FWIW, this is as close to the curve as I felt comfortable before I broke out in a cold sweat thinking about negotiating it. I pushed the bike back about 100 yards to a side road, carefully turned around and rode back home. Maybe next year.

The last photo, which shows that we have more than one curve, warns of a precarious stretch of road near our home. It was obviously designed by a madman on LSD. No one in their right mind would put that many curves so close together.

In all seriousness, KS has some very nice roads and scenery. No, you won't find mountains or the Grand Canyon, but it is beautiful just the same. Ya just gotta look a little harder and learn to appreciate more subtle things.

Here is a link to some photos of Kansas scenery that might change your mind about KS. OTOH, here's another link that proves that KS actually is flatter than a pancake.

Go Royals!

Just bought my game 7 tickets last night...hoping for:

A) it not to actually happen because we finish it in SF
B) if it does happen, it's nice enough to ride the mc down from Iowa to enjoy it.

This has been the greatest month of sports....ever!

I was in 8th grade last time they won it....my son is now in 8th grade, I think that is some kind of sign.

Actually Frank the Real Biker told me about "the tree" and "the curve". Haven't had the cahoneys to go there. I did ride down to the corner once.
