Default Bought new bars - now fitment questions

Edit: see page 4 for updated post

I have a 2006 Street glide at which has stock bars. I feel the bars are too short and I'm hunched over a bit to reach the bars. Any suggestions on how I can make it more comfortable without going mini apes?

I would love to go with mini apes but I'm sure they're expensive since you have to extend all the wiring/cables. Would risers be my best bet? How tall of a riser can I get before I have to modify wiring/cables etc?

Any help and or suggestions would be appreciated, thanks all.

Krome Werks Wide Sweepers +2's are 2+2, they helped me on my 2011 RGU. 2" higher, 2" closer.

I didn't have to change anything, of course, it was a different frame, different model.

Definitely do some research though, as there are bars that are not apes that will accomplish what you are wanting.

I think there is more work to changing risers due to the fairing cap than you are thinking.
But I've been wrong before.

A set of bars off of the new Limited Low would probably fill you needs. These feel really comfortable to me. I am considering getting a set for my 2012 Limited and the wife's TriGlide. The ones on the new RoadGlide are great also, but they are 1 /14" and would probably not fit, or be really hard to fit.

First of all - try rotating the bars up an inch or two - it makes a lot of difference and costs nothing.

There are plenty of bars you can get that don't require new cables or wires but will bring your hands up and back a few inches - Road King Pullback for one, and the controversial Heritage bars (pre 2009) as well.

Just for arguments sake, you can go up to a 10" bar and not have to change cables or add wire extensions. If you search around, bars that fit this bill can be had for under $200. You can change them yourself. It's not that hard to do.

Did the bars on my 2000 Electra Glide for the same reasons you mentioned. I replaced my cables with 6" longer cables which was the most expensive part of the mod in my case. My bike is an old carb bike so I didn't have throttle by wire issues to deal with.

By far the best comfort mod I did to my ride. Make sure you're happy with your seat before you make bar changes since seats can change rider position.

Just my $.02

Here's the post I made on the bars if it helps:

Good luck!
