My list of GRUNT cams in no particular order, some based on experience, some based on quality dyno tunes;
Wood TW222
Kuryakyn 24D
Genesis 577
S&S 551
Thanks for listing some options Ultra!

From what I can tell, the SE255's probably the cam for me, but was wondering if any other folks with a similar riding style have had these cams and gone to another grind and been happier?

Just trying to get some last minute reassurance that I'm not passing up a cam that would outperform the 255s in my riding range.

Thanks in advance for any feedback....

love a cam discussion. This one is especially interesting as most supported the OP going with the 255. There is always one better for personal reasons.

95% under 3000 caught my attention. when we tour 2up I average 3000. seldom over 5000 but many times 3500-4500 to accelerate.
so my question is are you looking for more TQ under 3000 because you do not use the rpm above 3000. most have the highest TQ around 3500.

I see you have the SEPST, which is what I used and have no need for more power. loaded 2up cruise will hold 120kph (about 70) uphill. on one stretch from 1000ft to 5000.

It makes me wonder about different riding styles, different mods, pipes and even tuning with the same device whether we are discussing the same thing.

You might try the WOODS 777 cams with the touring model. We have found they preform really well.

right after my post asking are we talking about the same thing.
they perform really well? where/how are they different than what OP has now. (generally all cams perform better than stock, I know on the dyno sheet)

That's pretty impressive for 48h and true duals. But then again, you've got one of the masters doing your tuning...very nice!

So am I understanding that the SE255 and Woods 222 are virually the same? I have a new CVO 110 and was told that it has the 255 cams in it, so if that's the case then going to a TW222 won't be much different.

I respectfully disagree. Not even close to being the same cam. They are both grunt cams yes, but 222 has much different characteristics than 255 first and foremost 222 is a non EPA cam unlike the 255. I personally don't care for Wood cams but to say they're the same is not accurate.

Have the 255s in a stage ll 103. They move the Road King with plenty of authority. All mountain roads up here, and even two up,it will pull smartly in 6th gear. Been up to 124 mph (GPS measured) with the shield on. Still get 44-46 mpg. Don't see needing anything more.

Thanks to all for your suggestions. After WAY TOO much research I think the Woods 222 are my choice. Now, where to buy. Looks like limited outlets for price shopping. Either from Bobby Woods himself, or Fuel Moto looks to be my choices. Does Jamie at FM ever give Forum member discounts?

Thanks again for all your input...
