Normally, if I'm just hauling my fat a$$ around, about 40-44 MPG. On my way back from Daytona last week, I measure one leg. I went 191 miles, and put 4.65 gallons in when I stopped, giving me about about 41 MPG. So, if I rode the tank until it was dry, I would have gotten just about 246 miles out of the 6-gallon tank.

I don't know for sure, but I think that the "Miles Remaining" indication talks to the ECM and uses trend data. I know that after I ride for a tank with my OL on the back (which very rarely happens, but I did this weekend in Daytona), the "Remaining" number is lower when I fill up, since I get lower mileage riding 2-up. Of course, I could be giving the brains of the bike far too much credit. LOL! Has anybody else noticed this?

I Know that the fuel gauge isn't completely accurate but I've started measuring the mileage between fill ups. Today, I filled up and got approximately 165 miles since my last fill up. This was mainly hi way riding while using cruise control at about 70 MPH. I don't have anything special on the bike, just the an air cleaner and Rinehart mufflers.

I'm not sure if 165 miles is in the normal range. A buddy told me that he gets about 145 miles between fillups but he has an older touring bike.

Thanks
Amazing question and probably will be sorry for answering. It reminds me of when my son informed me that when he bought his truck, the seller told him he got "X" mile for every 3/4 tank of gas.

MEASURE YOUR MILES AND DIVIDE BY YOUR CONSUMPTION (GET A CALCULATOR IF YOU NEED TO) and then you'll be able to tell people what your mileage is. Then we'll be able to compare.

6 gallon tank. Highway travels 225 miles, around town 244 miles. Once you hit the open road and over 55 mph the mileage will decrease.

Thanks guys for all the feed back. For the 2 years that I've had my scoot, I never really thought about how many miles until recently. I took some time off from work so I've been doing alot of miles every day; thus the question.
Shoot, I was sweating bricks at 160 miles because the dang needle looked right above E and trust me, ya'll don't wanna run out of gas on a South Carolina back rode...trust me, it just ain't pretty.

But now that I think about it, I put something like 4.96666 gallons into the tank (or something like that. It was close to 5 gallons). But, the gas was all the way to the top...go figure... anyway, I'm sure I'll be "filling up" again within the next 2 days so I'll try again.

Thanks again for all the feed back. 98% of the gang here is really cool and helpful. lol

I did a Charlotte to Orlando trip back in June and got around 230 - 240 miles in between fill ups. All hwy. Filled up with about 5.1 gal. or so each time. This is cruise at around 70-72 per my GPS with stock motor and Big Louies.

Did a NC to CA trip last month with some buddies, and we ran about 190 - 210 miles between stops cruising at 75 each day.

Man, do you live in or around Charlotte? Heck, I'm in Steele Creeke on the border line of N & S Carolina. If you role cross country like that, I'd love to join in. Seriously...

Salisbury is where I am. Have gone boating by you in Lake Wylie a few times.

That CA was a real fun trip for us. We're all from the same area in CA so it was good to visit friends and family. Too bad for me, as they're heading back to CA the first part of next year on job transfers. Back to riding the BRP by myself now.

On long trips of unknown territory, I carry a Reda gas can (one gal. or so) that fits my saddlebags.
Help for both me or another rider.
