Default 89 tour glide classic...a few questions

on a 89 tour glide classic, will those ebay lower leg fairings work with the oem crash bars? ive heard they are different on this bike, but when i look at pics and the microfiche they dont seem different? anyone know for sure....the 89's compared to 89-92 ultras? if they are different? will the ultra crash bars mount up on the tour glide so u can use the lower fairings?

also....im trying a couple options here
1. take off the radio caddy....if i do that, can u get oem plugs that cover up the wiring holes?
2. replace the housing? can u find the plastic housing anywhere? ive been calling like crazy to no avail....its part number 77070-88a black

lastly, i have a new s&s 111" evo motor i was thinking of throwing in the bike and installing a ultima 6 spd builders kit....is the builders kit a 6sp overdrive? or just more gears tighter spaced to accelerate faster?
whats a good pulley ratio with this combo to help spread out the power and have a better highway speed?

check in on the evo forum, most of the guys here have late models.

https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-classic-models-84/

if the tranny is an over drive the final ratio will be .86

if it is a "close ratio" the ratio will be 1:1

cheap overdrive is the 61T rear pulley- with a softail belt- this gives .85 works best when your motor has plenty grunt- 1 up.
I have this on my FXR- cheap swap if you are changing belt anyways. you have to loose belt guard.
or a swap to chain makes for easy ad cheap ration changes.

As Mike suggests, call over to the Evo forum, we can answer most if not all of your queries. For part numbers on your bike check any of the on-line parts websites, like this one. I have an S&S 107" in my 1990 bike, that 111" will be just great, but I still have the stock 5-speed trans, a 6-speed is just not necessary IMHO.

Changing the rear pulley will not give you .85 "overdrive"...overdrive simply means the transmission output shaft is turning faster than the motors crankshaft.

Yeah. I thought about the 6spd. I'm just looking to have a lower rpm higher gear.

If you're looking for improved comfort on long trips, just use ear plugs! Your motor will be fine, it is only the rider we have to care for. You can buy zillions of plugs for the cost of a 6-speed!
