Believe it or not, I got my dad into riding in 1967. He rode for a few years, but then gave it up. He passed away over 20 years ago.
My father in law is my regular riding buddy. He's 77 and still going strong. Yes, probably a trike down the road a bit, but not yet. We try to get out once every week during the season.
Good for you!!! My son lives in AZ and just got a bike, some sort of crotch rocket. I plan to ride out and ride with him come spring. Going to the River Run and hoping he can too. Will be our first ride together!!!
My Dad lives in Florida. I asked him if he wanted to go for a ride, as bitch, some ten years back when I got my first HD. He said he was almost 80, had never been on a bike and wasn't going to start now. Deep down inside I believe he was worried he would like it!!
I live in Colorado, so it's tough to hook up with my son or my dad. Cherish the memories. I hope to make some soon with my son!
My son and I got to ride Yellowstone and Grand Teton this year. Excellent memories. I like how the OP got his Dad's work done for him around the house too. Well planned.
Definitely enjoy the time you have with your parents! My father passed away on my 16th birthday. It was traumatic for me. We hunted, fished, raced go carts together. I'm going to be 60 in March and I still think about the short time we had together. You guys and girls are blessed to have a mother or father to ride with or just be able to visit.

I only wish my father was around to enjoy riding with me although about 35 yrs ago he nearly crashed and burned on my first minibike he bought me-ha,ha!
Enjoy times with your Dad cuz they will be gone before you know it.
Hoping summer of 15 takes on us on our first long road trip together. I know I'm truly lucky to get to do this and am hoping to take the most advantage of it before my life gets too busy. Great story OP. :icon _headbang:
