It's not out of reach- you just need some time, a bike in good shape and a body in great shape.

If unsure, plan loose and think about stopping and storing the bike and flying home if it gets to be too much.

loose "planning" makes for fun- figure out where you need to go and find 2 lane roads to connect those places.

Talking

We shipped our Glide to the USA back in 2003 for the Centenary celebrations and covered around 3,500 miles in our more modest trip of a lifetime. Shipping and other bike-related costs roughly doubled the cost of the holiday. At least you're already there! No excuses......

I can't open the link, but if you can't do a cross country trip now, do a shorter tour - a couple thousand miles of two lane highways is a nice week's vacation.

Wow, I thought my recent trip through Colorado/Utah at 4,800 miles was epic...21K miles would be a blast. Planning to meet a buddy next year in Milwaukie then doing Route 66 before heading north again. I'm taking the long way there - going down south and through the Texas Hills. Should be a bit over 8,000 miles. That's the plan anyway.

Wow. A dream of mine. Bought the book, maybe it'll inspire me to get off my *** and do it.

Awesome pics. Were talking about doing the ride out I 80 and circling back across I 90 loop next year around sturgis time frame. So i can tick two things off the bucket list at once. Time and money will be the limiter on the trip.

The more you can stay off the superslab, the more you'll enjoy the ride.
