You're real lucky, usually using non-HD batteries will void the warranty.

This won't ruin the FOBs. They just won't work.

Another thing I have encountered regarding the 2032 batteries.....since they are very commonly used for lots of things. Sometimes you can find "cards" of them for sale at places like Tractor Supply or flea market type places. Be weary of the "cards" holding a dozen or so of the 2032 batteries. After purchasing a couple of these cards, I have found some of the batteries to be DOA. It's usually best to buy the two pack from Walmart. That way you can assure yourself you are getting fresh batteries. Then carry a pair with you in the bike.

I remember the days when all I had to do was turn the fuel petcock on and kickstart the engine and away we go!

Not a helpful post, but my most recent battery experience.

Took bike into local dealership for an while you wait oil change. They mentioned that my bike was about the age when a fob battery should be changed. He changed it on the spot, and said "no charge...we appreciate your business". I about fell on the floor, as this is not what I was lead to believe after reading these forums.

I then set in their waiting room, had some Starbucks coffee, and played some pool with Fox news on in the background. This little gift, and the respect offered, ensured my future business.

Bike was back to me in 30 minutes. I noticed they had also freshly greased my steering bearings at no additional charge...just part of the service.
