Default Tour Pack Latch

I have just noticed that the tour pack on my Road Glide the forward latch when I stop is closed but has moved so it is no longer holding down the lid. I have checked and apparently it now has some movement to the side while riding. I latch down just fine and it locks the lid down but I can pull on it just a little and it will move off of the latch. I have a feeling the latch is failing and well just have to be another part to replace but wondering if others have noticed this??? Thanks

I've noticed something similar on my 2011 Limited. I went ahead and bought the premium tour-pack latches. They just came in yesterday, so I have not yet installed them. Hopefully, it's an improvement.

I had the same thing happen. (I have an after-market tour pack, but I had already replaced the latches with genuine Premium HD latches.) The part in the lid is fastened with a large nut that goes over the threaded lock cylinder. That part is probably OK, but it wouldn't hurt to check it. The other part to check would be its mate on the bottom of the tour pack.

The bottom section of the front latch is fastened with a couple of machine screws. If you are able to remove the liner you can check to see if they have come loose. That's what happened with mine. I put a drop of blue Loctite on them and snugged them back up. No problems since.

Couple of pictures that might help. The first one shows the bottom of the front latch in the upper right hand corner of the photo. You can see one of the screw heads. The second picture is the latch. As you might notice, I used some silicone caulk to secure the nut on the end of the lock mechanism. Didn't want anyone to think I had smeared a booger on it!

Check the gasket in the lid. If it's compressed too much, or missing, the lid can be loose enough not to put tension on the latches.
