the u haul i got to go get when i traded for my king had nice long tongue, easy to back, almost weightless.. good springs.. on ramp, wheel v up front and GREAT HIGH sides. Solid walls up to at least seat level. Rails above that. Rocks flying should not be that big of a threat???

I trailered the wife's Deluxe from Virginia to Texas in an open Uhaul...

It was a bit dirty when I got here, but no more than riding it for a couple days.

I'd go without, as suggested.

I trailer from Montreal, Canada to Florida every year for Bike Week in Feb/March. I have to cover because of the salt on the roads. I use the blue shrink wrap like they do on boats up here for the trip, its strong and shrinks to the fit of your bike. A heat gun will shrink. Another way is to use the large rolls of cellophane like they do for pallets when they wrap them (they also use it to wrap luggage at the airport up here as well). Either solution protects and doesn't rub off the paint. However, if your going from warmer climate to warmer climate with no salt on the road, I'd still go with no cover.

The above shrink wrap idea is a good one, and one I had not thought of. Other than that, leave the cover off. Heck, you would ride it that far, it will be no worse than that.

I wouldn't cover it. If you're worried about chips, plastidip the front end and peel it off when you get there. I'd take the windscreen off if you can store it without damaging it.
