Default Dyno Runs on Fresh Motors

I notice many people getting motor work, cams, pistons, heads, etc. then getting them dyno tuned with all the fresh parts in the motor. Am I the only one that wouldn't want my fresh motor getting beat to hell on a dyno?

Pretty sure you're not the only one.

I've had several motor builds broken in on the dyno.

The rings get a chance to seat properly and create compression. Leak down numbers are incredible providing the dyno operator did it right.

I'm not sure why so many people insist on putting all this money into their bike, and running it for 500-1000 miles with a bad tune before getting a proper tune.

How is that any better than being broken in on the dyno, where the operator add or remove fuel, timing and control RPM?

Do whatever you want with your bike. But I know mine NEVER burn oil.

It's unnerving as hell. I've had it done three times, the first two builds were shot after a short time, this new one will be put to the test next spring.

How do you seat the rings on a dyno? Revving the hell out of a fresh motor is killing it. To break in a motor I would recommend it rich to help cool it and get it tuned correctly after some easy miles are put on. At least 1k.

Heat cycles help break the motor in too. Re tourque also.

Exactly. You'll kill the pistons revving it like this and all the heat created.

Dyno is the BEST way to seat your rings.

Controlled environment.

Why would anyone NOT want to break it in under controlled circumstances?

I'll stick to what I know works. Slow and easy, varying rpm and nothing too high or constant. It worked on all my bikes without any problems.
