2013 road king started on it own
I had the clutch in turned ignition on from the dash and starter engaged with a lot of clicking then motor started and started still was engaging hit the kill switch on the handlebars turned back on it engaged again for a short momemt then stopped i then started and all seemed fine. About half way to work sitting at a light heard starter try to engage again then all good again. Any ideas on what the hell is going on. there was a lot of condensation on the bike this morning could it be moisture in the switch shorting it out.

good choice- drop it in their lap.
for the next guy...if you are stuck on the road with an over running starter- pull the green wire off the solenoid and that will solve an electrical problem so you can get going.
IF the starter over runs with that wire pulled then the fault is more serious and you should shut down immediately to prevent trouble ( $$$) inside the primary case.
the starter gear can be mis-aligned and caught up in the primary...engaging the solenoid and making the starter go
( this can happen with the keys in the next State...and this is why the manual often warns to disconnect the battery- an owner working inside the primary may manipulate the starter gear, the starter goes...the clutch and primary chain turn...and fingers are plucked off)
disconnect the battery negative cable and this will make the bike dead, dead, dead
otherwise it could start trying to kill itself even on the back of the tow truck or in your garage...possibility of fire too.

That's a little scary. Hope it's as simple as condensation and nothing serious.
