I think the brake switch recall was for up to 2009? Could have been some early '10s....I had an '09, so I know they were involved.
I have not heard of any '10 specific problems. But that is a pretty bike. Ride it well.

Primary bearings are a common problem after 15 to 20 thousand miles. The cause is the junk bearings and the poor compensators they used. You can do a search here and find many threads. My 2010 was good until 24,000 and then needed replaced and I upgraded the compensator to SE,traded it at 36,000 with no other issues.

Congratulations!!! Beautiful ride! Yes, 2010 was part of the brake light switch recall. I would be shocked if it has not already been taken care of. I just sold my 2010 Ultra, they are awesome bikes!! Your gonna love it! The only problem mine gave me was the wiring connector at the throttle body. Keep it dry as possible & keep dielectric grease on the connector. Ride & enjoy, don't worry about what you read.

Congrats on the bike. I have had my 2010 ultra for 3 years now. Rear brakes went out (recall), rear fender tail light got water in it and it went bad. IP bearing went out and ruined the transmission at 36k miles. Read up on the sounds of an inner primary bearing failure. It will save you $$$$$. I also replaced the compensator because of hard starts. Once you get all that fixed you can make it your own! :-D. All kidding aside I will never NOT have one. You will love it!

My riding partner has a 2010 Ultra.

From day one, he complained about the amount of heat that his engine developed.
Most important issue (IMHO) is to have it "de-catted" if it hasn't already been done.
He had his done after having the "96" converted to a "103" due to the severe heat caused engine damage.
After I got the Wards Parts Werks fans for my "110" he installed a set on his 2010 along with an external oil cooler.

He's pleased with his bike and he just replaced the OEM tires (and wheels) at 29,000 miles!

Congrats, smart move onto a great bike! My '10 has not given me one moment of trouble, had the brake light switch replaced at the dealer as a recall. no comp problems, nothing but a battery and tires. Be safe and ride proud!

Good year to buy. The few problems with the 09s were corrected in the 2010s. As stated earlier, your inner primary bearing may or may not go bad. Mine did at about 22,000. You'll know if it starts going bad. The noise is awful. Sitting with the engine idling .... pull the clutch leaver in and noise goes away. Release the lever and it sounds like something is getting chewed up inside! No damage to transmission if you get it repaired immediately. You'll know ..... this isn't some faint little sound.

Enjoy your new ride and don't worry about it. It may never happen.

Congrats!
The most common issue is a steady leak..... of cash from your checking account as you modify it!

Happy Motoring!
