Default SE-585 vs SE-259E camshaft

I have been made aware that the new Stage III upgrade kit is available with a big torque SE-585 cam.

Does anyone have any familiarity or information with/about this cam, and how would this compare to the SE-259E that comes with the same kit as well as the Stage IV kit.

The SE 585s are a new release, specs: Int .585 234* 18/36 Ex .585 240* 47/13 looks to be a better cam IMO than the 259E.

According to S&S:
585: Designed for 88 to 95 CID engines with compression ratios from 9.7:1 to 10.5:1 and 100 to 124 CID engines from 9:1 to 10:1 compression. Provides massive horsepower and torque increases starting at 3000rpm and holds steady all the way to redline. 3500-6000 rpm for 88" - 103" engines and 2500-5500 for larger engines.

What's throwing me off is the new SE catalog says its capable of making 88HP and 100ft-lbs of torque....

I have a Dyno from a 2014 SG with the Stage III that has the 259E cam and it shows 100.41HP with 111.73 ft/lbs of torque.

So my confusion is if its a big-torque cam, why does is have 12HP and 11ft-lbs of torque less than the 259E???

Retrop.... this is not an S&S cam, it is a new HD cam...., and included in their new Stage III kits, 92500023 and 92500028

I've heard some rumors about this cam - but looking as those crappy catalog curves, it doesn't seem like a huge improvement over stock.

Word on the street was it's a cam that HD can sell you in good conscience to provide improvement over the 103HO cam - instead of dropping coin on a 255.

I'm anxiously waiting dyno graphs on this one. My local dealership is doing a series of R&D builds with these cams - can't wait to spend money on it.....

It may be better than 255s but ya can do much better with an aftermarket cam and matching proper headwork.
