Default Should I pull the trigger on this 2008 FLHX Street Glide in Blue Denim?

Hello HD Forums. The reason I ask is I'm a bit unsure about the color and originally was hoping to find something a bit newer. This will be my first Harley so I don't want to rush in to anything but I'm kind of liking the color. I really had my eye set on a black denim street glide, and with summer around the corner I know there's going to be a lot for sale. I have about $20k CDN, so my budget is around $15k-$17k, I want to leave some room for tax, gear and insurance. A couple of my pals are telling me that I should get exactly what I want if I'm spending this kind of cash. But keep in mind bikes cost a little more in Canada then the U.S, and that I don't want to pass on a pretty sweet bike if I can get it for a bit lower then the seller is asking.

Details on the bike, it's a 2008 and is being sold by the original owner. He is retired and can not ride due to back issues. He says it has been regularly maintained and has never been dropped, damaged, repainted etc. It has about 15,000 Km and he's asking $14k CDN, but I may be able to get it for $12.5 or so I'm thinking. He's a couple hours away and I plan on going to look at the bike this weekend. He didn't include many pictures, and if anyone has a similar bike I would love to see pictures at different angles in different lighting.

Let me know what you guys think. Should I wait it out and try to find a newer SG in black denim, or do you vote for this bad boy?

All the threads I read about a used touring bike all recommend getting a 2010 or newer because of the improved frame. I have a 2013 street glide and have rode bikes with the older frame. There is a difference in ride and handling. I would test ride a few different bikes with the newer frame and see what you think. Don't rush into anything, then regret it. There are a ton of used street glides out there.

Great looking bike, ask for records...not a bad price. The only thing is the denim paint, easy/hard to care for and if you have a surface scratch guess what...you try and buff it out it will be glossy blue....first hand experience. Other than the paint color it looks like a great deal. And one other thing....the 08 is a great bike but it has the old frame setup that was changed in 09. I had a 08 and really never experienced any of the issues that people complain about handling wise, actually I thought it was awesome..
So as far as consideration....the denim paint and the old frame.

Oh and never settle...I learned that with women!

Can't say anything about the price because of the US conversion but have to agree about the denim. A riding buddy has a Street Glide in denim black and his ex GF scratched his bags. As far as I know the only fix is repaint. If you can live with that go for it.

Forgot to say, pulling the trigger is for use with guns. Please don't shoot your bike. One of the most stupid phrases used IMO.

I like that color, especially since you don't see it everyday. I like different, so I would lean towards denim blue over denim black.

Good luck to you

If you like it and can get it for a good price, I say why not. Its got the 6 gallon tank. Brembo brakes, 96 ci and 6 speed. Old frame or not, you're going to like the ride. I had a 05 Electra glide then traded for 12 RK. Yes they feel different but I still liked the ride of my old bike. I like the denim blue. Its not a denim color you see much of. I'm a sucker for the less seen colors. My RK is midnight pearl, not a color that is seen much if at all in my area.

Check under those saddlebag lid covers. They can just shred the paint. Also a bonus is the matching tour pack. That's not a cheap add on and it adds appeal to the buyer.

That's a good price (for Canada) especially considering the really low mileage, it's barely broken in. On the new frame thing....yeah it's a bit better but it ain't all that and a bag of chips like some will try to tell you so if you like it and can get it for the price you want I say go for it! Plus it already has a tour pack so you'll save some dough there if you plan on doing any touring.

I have an 08 and also ride a 2014 at least once a week. If you feel that 08 is a good deal for you, jump on it. I truly believe the hype on the 09 and up frame is just that, hype.
