The bent and broken wheel is why it is imperative the air pressure be checked each day you ride, before you ride, and fill it to the required pressure. I cannot say for sure, but I am willing to believe that tire was not at full pressure which makes bent wheels much more likely.

I agree, not much more than an inch or so deep. I have pot holes on my street that would swallow a front wheel to the brake rotors.

Here in michigan we call those speed holes. Faster ya go smoother they become. Hope op has esp. That's one of the reasons why I did get it cause our roads suck... between dodging bad drivers and then pot holes it's like frogger on a bike.

Yeah here too except the hole needs to be reported BEFORE you hit it. WTF. My son lost that argument when he busted a rim on his car

With all the cold this winter, streets are in the worst shape in a long time

Looks like ESP to me! The pic you sent of the hole did not look that bad to do that kind of damage. Yes I know, grammar police, hehe. Good luck getting it fixed dude.
