Default What mufflers behind rush head pipes

Due to my being unhappy with my Big Louie Mufflers I guess Im going to have to look at other options. My stock muffers won't fit. They wont slide on far enough due to the Rush Heat Shields being on the long side. What are others running ? looking for something thats not real loud.

Why not just trim the heat shields?

If I trim the heat shields wont they rust ?
I bought some Premium Head Pipes and Put Some big louies behind them with 2.00 baffles in them. They have a rattling tinney sound on decel. I swapped the baffles out of my other bike that had 2.25's in them and no rattle. Put the 2.00's in the other bike and they rattled. I have 2 bikes that run Big Louies with 2,25's and have no problems. Back in 2013 I tried to run 2.00's and they did the same thing. I am looking to tone it down a bit. I ordered some 1.75 baffles and will see how the sound but if I have to I'll ditch the Big Louies.
Last Time when I had problems Rush worked with me. This time when I called they weren't so helpful.

Sound is always so subjective, but I think the Kuryakyn Crushers are some of the best sounding mufflers I've heard. If want to keep the noise down, They have "Mellow" versions (except for the Mavericks). Some tuners on another forum have stated they are great performers too.

Here's a link to the YouTube channel if you want to have a listen.

The heat shields are aluminum and won't rust.

Does it sound like its the baffle itself rattling or just the sound of it in general? If it is the baffle rattling maybe remove it again and try egg shaping it slightly to get a tighter fit. I have also had the same issues with there heat shields in the past when trying to install stock muffs, but done worry they sound like absolute crap anyway, they sound like all the exhaust noise is stuck is in them and just really droney and enoying. How loud are they with your 2 1/4 ones? If you done messing with them let me know how much you want for them as I about the buy them or the kuryakyn crushers. Still on the fence myself.

Weird, I have Rush Big Louie's with the 2.0" Baffle and no rattle or tinny sound. Must have something loose. I had Rineharts that rattled until I tightened up the baffles.
