Depends on your budget, willingness to do the work and desire. I looked at the same issue and went with the Heritage style. They seem very similar to the 14RK bars. Easy swap and I am super happy with them. I would be interested to see if the new RK bars are better but I am happy with mine! The dealer charge for bars and cables seems just crazy.

Good luck

I have 518's and stock cables work but the brake line needs to be bent upward where is connects to the master to look good and so that the cable follows the bar...wires need to be extend too.

I replaced my cables with Magnum Shielding

Default 56569-09 vs wo518

Guys thanx very very much for your advice, input etc - from what I have learn't from your goodselves is, if I fit either the 56569-09 heritage bars or the wo518 bars then I will have to extend wires, this isn't a problem however I have one last question.

The riding position I am after is sitting upright or leaning back slightly, not leaning forward at all!!, therefor in your experience which are the best - the 56569-09 heritage type or the wo518's.

I am 5ft 10", 31" inside leg medium build.

Thanx lads.

Not to confuse the issue more, I sat on a 2014 Raod King and LOVED the bars and angle etc. I installed them on my 2004 Road King and they were perfect. Thats one swap thats easy to test on a dealer showroom floor.

I have the 56569-09 bars on my 09 RKC, they fit with stock cables and I didn't need to lengthen wires. There is a good installation thread for these bars in the forum. I did have to reposition the clutch cable a bit, that's it. And you are likely aware you have to make provisions for the TBW, not difficult if you have even basic fab skills. No parts except the bars were needed, best $68 I ever spent. I'm 6'1" and find these a huge improvement over stock bars. I have mine tilted just slightly forward, I find them very comfy. I'll do 14 apes at some point, but these bars have been a great interim solution.

Go with 14"s you will not regret it! Those are my specs, thats what I roll with and its comfortable as hell. Arms just at or a tad below shoulders, fabulous!

Heritage STYLE bars, part no. 56902-08,
There is a complete pictorial that we recently added to on this very bar. I changed mine out on Tuesday from the stock 2013 road classic bar( same as yours stock) to the heritage style bar in 1 hour and 30 minutes no cable change. 102 bucks out the door. I recommedn going this route FIRST so you can see if you like the taller bars. I like the feel of them and it was cheap compared to buuying 200 dollar bars and a 300 dollar cable and wire kit to try bars that you might or might not like....and if you have someone else do the work, it really gets expensive. I figured i had a 100 to lose if i didn't like the bars. Believe it or not, they are a lot different than your stock bars. i am six foot even, fit and trim and the stock bars were terrible for touring. I have 100 miles on the new bars this week in prep for a 2000 mile ride in May. I have the bars in the same plane as the forks. i might roll them back a bit but giving them time to grow on me first. I do like them much better than the stock bars...

Default 14" apes

Hi guys,

Well I have to admit those 14" apes look class so here's a few questions:-

Bars I am after are drilled for internal wiring and have pull through wires fitted for ease of running the wires through the bars.
Right side is notched for fly by wire.
1 1/4" diameter bar reduced to 1" where they mount to the risers and at the end of the bars where the standard controls attach,

What's the measurements for the following please.

Rise?
Total width?
Pull back?
Centre distance?

Totally in your debt lads.

Thanx

You can always try risers with some pull back on them and keep your stock bars. I did that on my 2011 and no more reaching. Made a huge difference how your back feels.
