Default Road king custom handlebar cover

My brother has a road King custom and wants to remove the chrome visor attached to the riser cover. All the covers we have seen on the web have only covered the model years up to 2002 and his bike is a 2006. Then it jumps to model year 2008 for the next series of covers. Can anyone tell me the difference between the cover maybe even off of a 2006 road King classic. Wouldn't the cover from the classic be similar just minus the cutout for the visor? Why can we not find one that says fits 2006? Any help would be appreciated.

I changed the cover on my 05 custom with one from a 12 standard. they are all the same from 99 to 13. You will also need a new spear for the top of the nacelle because they are shorter on the custom.

If you want to sell or trade my buddy needs the custom one for his 05. I have a regular one with a billet mini tach mount on it.

are you sure about that? i had an 07 road king custom, i changed out the custom flyscreen with the standard handlebar riser cover. i wanted to use the 08 version because the little plastic piece could be removed and give you access to the bolts holding the handlebars so you could adjust the handlebars much easier. that one wouldn't fit. it's close, but not close enough. so i ended up using one from 07 down, and it was a perfect fit.

i was able to find one on ebay for cheap, but the spear i had to purchase from the dealer. now that was a few years ago, so there may not be as many used ones from that era for sale now.

I bought a new handlebar cover and nacelle spear for my 05 custom off of surdyke. Think I paid around $120 shipped. I'm sure I could've found them cheaper but I went the easy route. I have the part numbers laying around somewhere if you need them.

The one I used I got off ebay the ad said it was off a 2012, and it fit mine fine. I saw a couple of listings that said 99-13 were the same.
