Default Odd Tranny Oil Leak Spot....Pic.

Got a confirmed oil leak right around that black hex bolt on the primary side on my transmission. I sprayed it clean many times and keeps getting oily there. Any ideas how to fix it? Bike only has 10k miles on it. 05 King.

It's probably coming out of the shifter shaft seal and is being blown upward by the pulley.
Could be the trans output shaft seal as well.
You'll figure it out quick if you pull the primary.

that's the centering pin for setting the shifter pawl limit when shifting. part number 34978-00A . it has a seal that the bolt slides through. I kind of doubt that's your source of leak, but possible. could also the mainshaft and being slung around.

either way, have to pull the primary to fix it. follow the service manual and you'll be all set. just some oil and gaskets

So no easy fix here then...like find a stubby Allen key and tighten that bolt??

Mine had a little weep there too. I believe it's a torx bit. I cut one short, stuck it in a box end wrench and snugged it up. Good to go. YMMV.

Ran back out to garage today and looked at it closer when its still clean. I grabbed the shifter and there is some play to the shaft not much but enough to notice a gap. Took a pic of it in and out. That can't be normal is it?

If it is your shifter shaft seal, you'll need to pull inner primary. You didn't mention milage, but when I replaced my shifter lever, because of stripped splines. I replaced bearings, races & seals, since the inner primary was already off. Good luck.

Had this on a couple bikes. Replaced everything else until I got to what I wanted to get into last. If you have play in the rear linkage save yourself a headache and coin by addressing the issue ASAP.
