No you are not. The best plans I have seen go in the hopper real quick. Some of the best times i have had were just winging it. If you have the time and cash I say go for it you will not regret it. the riding is awesome out there

Totally agree with the above. Lots of camping available every where...

Can't wait! 97 days until I leave....

Don't forget your leathers and a sleeping bag. The bag is not for you..... it's to protect your bike

This kind of thing happens every time I go to the Black Hills. In 2010 a basement bar in Deadwood at the bottom of a hill filled completely up with hail..... We leave for Sturgis in 92 days

Not my videos.... but it gives you an idea. Good Times

We are staying at Glencoe again this year. I've been there twice before and it's a great place to stay. PM me for more info.

Just noticed, you're from Illinois. Might I suggest your route?

Once you get to Iowa go to RT 20 (Dubuque). That will take you all the way across Iowa.

In Sioux City go North on I29 to SD44. Stay on SD44 all the Way to Rapid City. Then I90 North to Sturgis.

Easy route to ride, and plenty of gas/food stops.

SD44 has very little traffic, and will take you through the Southern part of Badlands National Park, and the Grasslands. In fact, once you cross the Missouri River, you will start to smile. The scenery gets nice real fast.

If you're in a hurry then I90, and you can run 80mph, and dodge semis, and bike trailers.

I've done both ways, and prefer SD44. It adds an extra hour to the whole trip. But the relaxed pace makes for a much nicer ride.

I rode 90 2 years ago out to sturgis from IL and will confirm it is a fast but annoying route. going again this year and may try to convince the crew to try a different route.

Went to the 50th in 1990 & over the weekend my buddies & I decided to go to the 75th. We'll spend a day there & hit the road. It's all about the great scenery getting there & on the roads home. We're thinking 11 days. Stay safe.
