Don't forget your leathers and a sleeping bag. The bag is not for you..... it's to protect your bike
This kind of thing happens every time I go to the Black Hills. In 2010 a basement bar in Deadwood at the bottom of a hill filled completely up with hail..... We leave for Sturgis in 92 days
Not my videos.... but it gives you an idea. Good Times

We are staying at Glencoe again this year. I've been there twice before and it's a great place to stay. PM me for more info.

Just noticed, you're from Illinois. Might I suggest your route?
Once you get to Iowa go to RT 20 (Dubuque). That will take you all the way across Iowa.
In Sioux City go North on I29 to SD44. Stay on SD44 all the Way to Rapid City. Then I90 North to Sturgis.
Easy route to ride, and plenty of gas/food stops.
SD44 has very little traffic, and will take you through the Southern part of Badlands National Park, and the Grasslands. In fact, once you cross the Missouri River, you will start to smile. The scenery gets nice real fast.
If you're in a hurry then I90, and you can run 80mph, and dodge semis, and bike trailers.
I've done both ways, and prefer SD44. It adds an extra hour to the whole trip. But the relaxed pace makes for a much nicer ride.
