2007 Ultra Cruise control
hey guys:
I ride a 2007 Ultra, got it out for the first good ride today and found the cruise control wont stay engaged. It will engage, turn light green and it may hold 3-4 seconds and then light goes red and it drops out, or at times it would engage, light green and if i held it lightly it might stay on or drop out. Didnt really come to any conclusions other then it does try to lock in but it doesnt hold more than a few seconds and drops out.
So what should I be looking for?
Thanks mps

If you have brake linkage bouncing around, it will kick you off of CC.
It sees you as hitting the brake.
Also, I had my idle throttle cable replaced ('07 UGC) because it wouldn't hold when setting CC.
There is a contact switch, under a rubber boot that was green when they gave me the old part.
Located behind the A/C, out of sight.
A little contact cleaner might have fixed my problem instead of them replacing the cable.

Well, this problem is ALL over the forum, last post only a few days ago...so here's probably the most common problem and the fix...first the fix...disconnect the roll-off switch on the idle throttle cable...normally on the right side of the neck just ahead of the gas tank, no need for pix, it's right there in the open. Has two spade connectors. Disconnect one or both. If that fixes the problem, either leave it fixed by disconnecting it, just means that rolling off the throttle won't disengage your cruise control...that is what I, and several others have done, I just hit the front brake to disengage.
Or, you can loosen up the idle cable to where it doesn't do that. I like tight cables so I get a minimum of delay, so I simply disconnected it, as described. If it's something you think you need, then put a couple of 5/16" wrenches in your jacket and get after it, on the road... you'll probably need to keep adjusting on the fly for a while until you get it right.

If it's the acting up brake switch then you won't be able to set cruise most of the time sounds like you have cables problems. Also try setting cruise at different speeds and different gears mine wouldn't stay connected some times over 82 MPH due to the limiter ( max 85 mph) miss read the mileage and disengage.
