one day i was conversing with an old guy in the dealership....he rode a road glide and i mentioned i had thought about getting one but wondered about the handling. he said "look around.....how many used road glides do you see on the floor"......not one was on the dealership floor but a lot of used bat wings were on the floor.....guess he had a point.

I won't have any other model! I like the roominess of the RG and have solved the buffeting issues with a different windscreen and lower fairings.

I've had several Bat Wings handled fine. The road glide special I have is great. Only complaint is the glare on the GPS head unit. Feels like a more open cockpit, and with the new design the fairing on the RG was moved up a little bit more towards the rider. Everyone dogs on the looks of the road glides, my one question is ok is who cares what your bike looks like. Are you looking at it while you're riding it too? If so, better pay attention to the road hahaha.

The first one I bought, an 07, I did kinda regret. Only because I was too stubborn to want to make changes to reduce buffeting. Handled like a dream. My 2013 RG Ultra was incredible. I had it dialed in just the way I wanted. Could not beat the ride. It was the victim of a divorce. Now I have a 2015. Awesome ride. Buffeting out of the box is minimal. Still need a taller shield and if you want a totally smooth ride fairing lowers will help. But not needed as much as the previous models.

Had an '01 RG, and have been sorry since the day I sold it for an '08 Ultra. Best riding and handling Harley I've ever had, and the Ultra was the worst. Traded that off for a 12 Street Glide, and while that was a good bike, the buffeting on that thing was terrible. Traded that off for my 15 RGS, and can't be happier. After getting the proper windshield (Freedom Shields 13"), the RGS handles and rides like a dream. Open that top vent, and all the buffeting goes away. I'll be keeping this one.

I hear they are great bikes, but I couldn't stand looking at that fairing that looks like it fell out of the sky & just landed there.

Thanks all for the replies. Very true about limited RG for sale used. There are only 2 in my area on Craigslist. I love my RK but miss having a fairing. I have a windshield that came with my bike when I bought it. But man its ugly. And believe it or not with it on the wind feels worse!

I am on my second one now, a 12 CVO custom, I dont usually buy the same things twice but in the case of a HD Touring bike, cant beat it. Like the idea of a 120 platform but my rule is never buy the first year of a new engine model. I would wait until I could buy a new 120 or 124ish CVO crate motor and mod it and drop it in when it is available in air cooled.

I just clicked over 2000 miles today on my 2015 Road Glide Special... 1400 of which are with the 120st I had installed 2 weeks ago. I can honestly say that I have not been happier with a purchase in a long time. I must have had 200 different people on here asking why I would go with the 120 st and not an s & s...and so on. I'll just say this, I had my bike dynoed two days before I pulled the 103 out and with the stage 1 it had 103lb/ft torque 82 hp . Today the 120st did 132lb/ft.. torque 123hp! (I will post the dyno sheet when he emails it to me) I cant stay off of this motorcycle...

C'mon gentlemen, lets be honest. The Road Glide looks like a turd. It may ride better and handle better and whatever better, but at the end of the day it is ugly. Now, a Street Glide is one bad as$ looking' bitch. Let me put it this way....22 year old hardbody, or a fugly who can cook and clean... I love riding my Street Glide.
