Anyone have any tricks to getting slip-ons off the head pipe? I run a CT on the back, so I only change out the rear tire every 20+K miles.
I just had to do it and even though I put plenty of anti-seize on them last time I put them on, I couldn't budge either one of them from the head pipe. I ended up just taking the joint underneath the frame apart, to get the left muff off. I just took the pipe hangers under the bag off on the right side to be able to move the muff out a little to get the cone nut off.
surely someone out there has found a better way to get the slip-ons off of the head pipes. If you have a trick to doing it, please share it.

A few years ago, I actually read KuryAkyn's instructions (it was the dead of Winter!).
They recommended a few drops of penetrating oil around the clamps/header connection, let them sit awhile, then twist to remove.
Well.... I've never had any issues ever since then!! It works fantastic!!!
Give it a shot.... and it also helps to guide them back on.
