Default Hard starting Grinding noise

My 2010 street glide makes a terrible grinding noise when starting, maybe 50 -70% of the time. About the only time it doesnt seem to happen is first thing in morning when I fire up for work.
At work she can sit for hours til lunch, then grind, then fter work hours later, grind again. Usually she grinds 3 times hitting the button, then the 4 or 5th time she fires up. Any idea what this might be?
I have a brand new battery only few months old. TIA

Replace the starter clutch. Bout $70 or less if you do it yourself. I recommend the All ***** brand.

2010 Limited with some stuff

I have your noise on my 09 SG, but less frequently and it only occurs when the motor is hot. Tomorrow, I tackle installing an All ***** clutch. Here's a link to a mighty helpful thread on the topic https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...-on-09-sg.html.

Good luck.

I see nothing about having already replaced the factory compensator. Unfortunately, '11 was the first year for the factory to install the SE compensator. If your compensator is weak, most were, the new starter drive won't last much longer than the original. The new compensator is not compatible with your current rotor so a new rotor will have to be added to the parts list. Probably a bit over $500 if you do the work yourself.

If you had a stage 1 tune done to the bike, check to ensure the ACRs were enabled after the tune.
