What can anyone tell me about the EFI on that year?
Anyway, gonna comb the forum and see what i can find out. Thanks in advance.

the EFI was not great, and it is getting hard to find people to work on it or parts for it. A lot of people rip it out and co to a carb.

Mine has 150,000 miles on it with only a throttle position sensor replaced 20,000 miles ago. Rock sol;id dependable in my case. Magnetti Marelli makes efi systems for many different car manufacturers, much as Delphi does.

The weakness is the need to build the motor. My Stage II 95" set up is perfect, but throw a set of performance heads on it and you'll have problems tuning it.

To be fair, some guys have had issues, some like me, have not.

The tensioners need looked at. Because the crank is so strong I went with gear drive cams at 81,000 just over 4 years ago and never looked back.

Get the bike for the right price and enjoy.

Thanks for the reply,
Im gonna take the bike out for a few hours tomorrow and see how she feels. The current owner is **** as hell so I know maintenance was done right.
He did say the cruise control wouldn"t work for him but Ill have time with the bike tommorow.
It has one of those new fangled cassett players too.

MM fuel injection was pretty simple and ok for the time but it is 15+years old. Parts are near non existent and folks who can/will work on it are few and far between. If it is working well it may or may not continue to but if it is quirky now, stay away. Oh the cruise parts (moduals) aren't available anymore either. If ya like restoring non-classic bikes go for it; otherwise... OK I'm being a little harsh, sorry.

You may have no major issues if it was well maintained, and had the cam chain tensioners replaced.
I had put 25k (10k previous owner) 35,000 total miles on my '00 MM injected bike with only a intermittent high idle problem. Which I could have fixed if I had chose to. But instead, I redid it with a 95" bore, ported heads, new cam plate & tensioners, etc. I went with a S&S Throttle body & ECM, which really woke it up...But I'm on the fence if I should have changed to a carburetor.
I also added Cruise Control recently, all new parts off of ebay.
One negative is fuel filters for '00-'01 go for $100+.

As mentioned, the cam chain tensioners would be my biggest concern. If they have been replaced or upgraded (with proof), your fine. If not, they are on the verge of disaster and need to be addressed. That is where I would start my questioning.

Had mine for about a year now. Totally rebuilt. Has the MM setup. When I rebuilt the motor (outer cam bearing went south) I put the gear drive with cams in. Pretty solid with a Dobeck fuel adjuster module (adjusts like a carb, piggyback system). After putting that on, the injection problems went away, but I'm a carb guy, so making this sort of imitate gave me that "carb tune" advantage that woke up the SE 95".
