Default Cam's. 255 vs 259?

I have a 2010 FLHX with a 103 kit and 255 cams. It has a race tuner and has been dyno tuned. I am looking to now add screaming eagle heads and retune. Dealer suggest I switch to 259 cams to boost the power. Anyone running a set up like this? I am currently getting 89 hp with 109 ft lbs torque. Would like to get the hp over 100.

Very few 255's making 100hp. I would recommend getting cams and matching headwork from a proper engine builder instead of bolting on SE parts and hoping for the best.

I assume you already bumped up your compression when you purchased the 103 kit. Have you considered the new SE-585 cam as well? This cam may provide you with the best of both the 255 and 259 cam.

I had the 255 cams and liked them. Then I decided I needed I wanted more power and switched to the Stage III with 259e cams and 10.5 to 1 compression pistons. Dyno'd at 97 hp and 107 torque by a good dyno man. It runs well but moved the torque curve to the right. The 259's give me a little more power on the top end and less on the bottom and in the middle where I usually run. If I had it to do over again I would have left it alone with the 255 cams. For a heavy bagger the 255's do a good job. With head work the 259e's will probably give you a little more. The same place had dyno'd the 255 set up at 93 hp and 119 torque.

I had a stage 4 103 with a 585 cam and MVA heads. 121/124. The power came on at 2500 to 6200. Pulled like a train. I loved the 585, in fact I need to look into how it would work on a stock CVO 110 now.

Had the 259's in a 2010 CVO Street Glide. Stock heads and pistons. They had very little valve train noise, and were well mannered at slow speeds. The just didn't make much torque below 2800 rpms. Pulled hard from 3000 to 6000. Some could have been the exhaust had Vance and Hines Dresser Duals and 4 inch Rineharts.
Over all didn't think they were terrible cams, rode two up a lot with them, got stuck in traffic a couple of times, weren't any worse than the 255's when it comes to heat.
Some say their are better cams out their, guess it depends on your riding style and what you are looking for.

The dealer did not mention 585 cams. Will have to ask. Thank you.

Same at my dealer. I asked three knowledgeable guys and finally the last guy told me they just installed them in a 2015 SG and the numbers looked great but more importantly the owner loved them. Might be worth leaving the heads as is and just swap cams and tune if you are looking for more pull on the top end.
