Default Should I trade in my Road King for a Street Glide??

So I have been wanting to add some tunes to my RK and really the only thing that seems reasonable is to add an aftermarket fairing with a stereo to my bike. Then, I get an email for .99% financing on all new 2015 models at my local HD dealership, which got me thinking about test riding the new street glide and road glide. I really liked the street glide! I was definitely a fan! So the dilemma is, keep my Road King and add an after market fairing? Or trade up for a 2015 Street Glide??? And if so is it worth it to jump for the SGS? Thoughts???

My first thought (and second and third) is to keep the RK and add the after market fairing. Take it off when you don't want/need it. Best of both worlds. Its on my wish list. Just need the cash.

Default Here is my 2 cents

I had the same issue that you are going through. In the end I got the Road King. I don't really dig having some one else's idea of "great tunes" blasting @ me while I am at a light, and trust me you will never hear those great tunes doing freeway speeds. So I decided that because I wear a helmet anyway I would rig it with a Bluetooth Sena headset, I get phone, mp3, streaming music, news, turn by turn navigation, AND FM radio all in my private head space! The billboard windshield is the best in the business with wind protection, front end is 35 lbs lighter, easier to maneuver, (there is a reason they are also police bikes) all that and I saved over 3 Grand off the price of the Street. And if you don't wear a helmet, use Bluetooth earbuds! Same set up.... For what its worth! YMMV!

When I first bought my Ultra I enjoyed playing my Mp 3 player. I didn't like the radio, because I had to keep changing stations, to avoid ads, bad songs.

My radio mode switch had a short, so I quit listening. For 2 years. It started working again but I rarely listen to it. I enjoy the ride more, without the distraction.

Plus you will get screwed on trade in.

RK is a great bike, but I like the SG better. If you have the money get the SGS I have one and I think the extra 2000.00 is worth it.

By the way what do you care what other riders think? Ride the bike you like and F===K everyone else.

Most problems I've heard about in the new models has been with the rad/nav system. Don't think I'd be a happy camper if I laid out those kinda bucks + had that many problems. My choice is obvious from my sig pic. I would never trade a Rushmore RK for an SG. OTOH, a pre 2014 RK for a Rushmore SG is a whole nother enchilada.

I went from a glide to a king. When the novelty of the radio wore off i rarely used it.

All about personal preferences. I'm on my third RK, I don't care for tunes on a bike and like to take off the windshield every once in a while. And while easy to fix, the stock RK has a better ride because it isn't lowered.
