Default Freedom slip-on mufflers on Road King

Just got my Road King Police 2014 and thinking of changing the stock pipes. I am thinking of taking the Freedom slip-on mufflers (got a good deal on them) but honestly speaking not sure would I need to change the air filter as well and go for the Stage 1. I am reading confusing posts where some are saying with slip-ons you do not need to got for the new air filter/tuner and some are saying its a must. Thanks in advance for your help!

You really don't need to change anything else if just slipons, as you progress to other add ons a tuner will be needed as lean conditions will exsist. A tuner will make even a stock bike run better and cooler. It will become your new habit of empting your wallet.

If all you want is that Harley SOUND, and only changing Mufflers on an all stock Bike.
Nothing else needs to be changed, no air cleaner, no tuner, or no de-catted head pipe.

I changed the factory mufflers on my '14 RK to American Custom mufflers, and added Xieds, just 'cause I could. Not needed though, you should be fine.

I did a complete stage one on my 2013 Limited this spring. I installed a de-catted pipe, K&N AC, CFR Slip ons or Rinehart Slip ons with a Power Vision 1 tuner. After going through it I would recommend you start with a good tuner and then do the add ons. The OEM tune from HD is already lean and leaves a lot of performance unused. Being lean from the factory and a catalytic converter just add to the heat problem. Good luck with your project.

I put freedom slipons on this year. I love the sound and the price was right. After a month, all the chrome pealed off the end caps. I'm still waiting to see if they'll warranty them, but likely the new ones will do the same.

Hopefully the take care of you and this is just an isolated incident of bad prep for chromium. I have Freedoms on my Bully end it has holden up with no issues. Good luck!!!
