Tingling in Hands after Switching to Taller Handlebars

I always get irritated when people ask about ape hanger heights and everyone says go tall, you'll wish you had taller bars. I thought I wanted tall apes too, then I demo'd a Victory with factory apes. By the first red light, I was shaking out my hands from no blood flow. I can't even run apes that put my hands at shoulder level. Yea they look cool, but they do you no good if you cant live with them...
To the OP, good luck, you may have to swap them out to shorter ones...

Might think about "Secondary Raynaud's" (sometimes called Vibration Syndrome) instead of carpal tunnel syndrome.

Age and some heart medications exacerbate the problem.

That may be too far back, but the forks would make a good point of reference. Thanks for the suggestion.
Current position of bars. LA Chopper FL 12".

Tingling Hands
My 06 Street Bob came with mini apes or buck horns...They had about 12" of rise. The first time I rode to a high altitude place with them, my hands and arms went completely numb and as I descended back to a lower level the feeling came back. After about three years, I'd had enough and put lower bars on the bike. They are about half way between my waist and shoulders and feel great. When the buck horns were on the bike, if it was a little chilly while riding, my hands stayed numb.

Pull 'em back as far as you can. Learn to ride with your arms, back, legs in a comfortable position.
When I switched to my current bars, I experienced some tingling but after time I learned to ride with them comfortably and wouldn't go back.
As always, YMMV. That's the tough thing about our hobby, you gotta pay your dime and take your chances - stuff doesn't always pan out as we'd like (just like real life)
