Default Looking for a new toy, new CVO street glide or a custom bagger?

Currently own a 06 custom road king and a 2010 Ultra Limited (for longer trips). But something is lacking, need a very special bike. Was looking at the big 26 in ch wheel custom baggers and I was set then I saw the Mercury Street Glide 2015. So which is better a bagger or the new CVO?

My buddy picked up a '15 CVO Street Glide. the stereo alone is worth the price of admission. It's not even funny how badass it is.

For me.....I like the path I'm on. Regular Street Glide, throwing money at it when I can. It's all good.....

Everything about the 15 CVO enticeses me, the extended bags, fender and ontop of everything the beautiful thick deep metallic paint.

Thanks for replying maybe get a 2015 SG and throw some money at the paint and a bit of mods? What is a deep paint job 5k? The CVO seems to be limited and they run a bit hot?

Sounds like you have pretty deep pockets? If that is the case I would get something besides a CVO as well as a Street Glide. No offense but the only issue I have with them (SG) is the lack of running lights. As far as CVO, half the fun of having a bike is making it yours with simple add on type stuff to a custom paint job, motor work, mods galore.

great points. No deep pockets here but want to get something I truly love and that paint scheme (maybe 5k to replicate?) threw me off course. I had no intention of buying a bike but once I saw it I thought maybe I can deplete some other areas. IT was a beautiful bike, I never cared for most other colors but for an alomsst 20k premium on the standard SG I will consider other options.

Really would like to hear more feedback, I tend to keep toys for a very long time. Is the stereo setup worth the upgrade and to bit the bullet?

For CVO money I want something special built for me, not a production bike I still have to change to fit me.

Is the stereo worth $15g.....NO! But all things considered, paint, 110, wheels, paint, bags, etc, etc. It all adds up fast.

Like stated, I like what I'm doing and making my bike my own.......up to you.

I have had both, stock bikes that I customized myself and my CVO Roadie.

If this new bike is going to a keeper forever, I say CUSTOM BUILD!

NOT to mention, the CVO's bikes are so out reach in price now a days.

Just always remember that what you like, may not be what someone else likes when the times comes to sell. If that time comes!

AND, the forever what holds value more IF you decide to sell war, "stock bike with custom parts" vs "CVO bike".

As for my current CVO, it's a keeper for life. Last year of the hand built bikes by a 2-4 man team, last year of the Sreamin' Eagle heads paint on the bike, customized, engine mods to "MY" likes, etc. etc.

Is it a cookie cutter? Maybe with other CVO models or colors.

MY RIG is the only one in my color in my neck of the woods! How many Black bikes do you see daily?

Not to mention, 1 of 491 world wide!

Good luck, only YOU can make the decision of which way to go to make you happy!

My vote is to build a custom bagger, you could build a better bike for the same or less than the price of a CVO.

You can always use the color scheme of the CVO in your own design also.

Personally I don't like the Rushmores in the first place. Then you consider the price of the CVO, I would never buy it. I bought my wife a 2012 Mustang Convertible for 19k, seems crazy to me that a motorcycle costs $37k.

So to me, if I was you I would get a nice paint job, some engine and suspension work, new wheels and some Rivco Adjustable Passenger Pegs for your 2010. Then you would have a unique bike, for less than $15k. Without a hideous vent in your fairing. This is assuming you keep the bike for a long time. If you think you have to sell it, sometime, go with the CVO, which will have better resale.
