Default Rider Backrest Question

I finally got a Mustang Super Touring seat with riders backrest. This is my first backrest in my 55 years of riding.
Took it out for a test ride tonight and the first thing I noticed was a slight vibration transmitted to my back. Of course it's a motorcycle and vibration is normal but I'm wondering if feeling vibes through the backrest is something all riders experience. I also noticed going over a bump sometimes thumped my back a bit against the backrest. I'm concerned that over time it may damage the vertebrae or kidneys.
Is there any advice than can be offered to buffer the vibes or is it just part of riding with a backrest and something you just persevere with as a trade off for leaning back?

I think your vertebra and kidneys will be fine, especially if you're able to lean back and not slouch like most do without the backrest.

I have a back rest on both my bikes, and I don't feel a thing. I guess if the backrest bar is touching the fender you might get a vibration out of it. Try raising it a little.

I agree on getting the vibration checked out. I have both the frame mounted mustang with my day-long and the super touring seat with that back rest and I don't get any vibration through either.

I'll try raising it up a notch.

Indeed, put it a little bit higher and avoid contact with the fender. This is my 3rd bike with a backrest and I can tell you, on the long haul I don't ride without anymore ! And by the way, I made over 100,000 kms with backrests and my kidneys are still in great condition as I smell several times a day..

If it is hitting your back that hard you might try softening up the shocks a little.

Its going to take a while to get the backrest adjusted to your best position but once you achieved that, you will never ride without one to lean against.

I also have a Mustang touring seat w/ backrest. No noticeable vibration. When I raise it up, however, it doesn't take long before it drops back down. None the less I love it.
