My Shocks by Howard at Motorcycle Metal
I decided I would wait and put some decent amount of time and miles on the shocks before posting.
After talking to Howard I went with #6.1a 314mm/12.362" Stroke: 3.562"/90.5 mm. He will have to tell the details about them.
I installed them 6/28/15 and have over 4,000 miles on them now... and those 4,000 miles have been excellent!
Anyone that has ridden in Illinois knows what the roads are like and how they can beat the hell out of you and your passenger! We both have back problems and I'm fused at L5-S1.
My Ohlins by Howard actually make me look forward to the nasty road hazards!
As much as we love the ride I'm pretty sure my settings can be tweaked to make the ride even better.
No dodging, no tensing and no regrets!
Dealing with Howard is well worth it! I'm hoping that I can do the front end sometime soon, but maybe I'll ride down and have him install for me.
Hopefully this helps someone trying to justify the upgrade.

Custom made shocks?
Man, you are still up? Thank you for those kind words. If I can remember correctly those are some shortened but keep the same stroke that I made for you, (as all other #6 shocks), am I correct? I strive to make the best riding comfort shocks for your personal application in this case. I am happy it is working out for you.

These feel like they sit me a little lower then the lowering air shocks I took off and I love that.

I am looking at purchasing some #6 shocks from Howard. I have a 2013 RG custom that has been lowered one inch. I want to remove the lowering kit and put on new shocks and was wondering if you know how long the shocks need to be so I can stay at the one inch lower than stock. Howard had suggested I ask you as he thought you had yours lower than stock.
