Default 120ST or Built 106

So, it seems a lot are saying get a 106 built up instead of dumping the money into the 120ST. About the same power numbers from both (from what I have seen on here), but the 106 would be closed to topped out and the 120 would still have 4 stages to go once the kits come out.

Oh yeah the 120 would have warranty.

So which would you do and why?

If u can afford the 120, why not. I got a 107 w/ heads and got 112hp/126 tq. 124's that I have seen are hitting 150's easily on the Dyno. Why not s&s 124?

I would drop an s&s 124 in rather than a 120st.

If you have the money always go for the bigger cubic inch. The 120st is a great deal because it comes with a 58 throttle body and injectors. I found dealer that is selling them for 5125.00 plus shipping.

I tend to agree. The S&S seems to a proven platform. It has warranty also. However I did read that Fullsac got a 120st and replaced the cams and flowed the heads and is pleased with the performance. But the warranty is gone.

A T124LC would be my choice, a sort of touring version, rather than the hot-rod!

I'd be calling Dragos Bike Works and asking for his price on a 124 if i needed a whole new built engine. If i wanted to build my engine, Fuel Moto. Give em both a call and see prices/advantage. You can get money back out of your stock engine is something to consider as well.

The S&S 124 is proven! It has tighter crank tolerance timken bearings pinned and welded crank. The 120 much like the 103 allows up to 12 thousand crank runout good luck trying to run gear driven cams. There are 2 versions of the 124 the bagger version runs a little less compression more torque with warranty. The S&S 124 is on my wish list for x-mass!

I purchased an S&S crate motor. Put about ten thousand hard miles on it in the last two months. It's a keeper. Any bike I get moving forward will have an S&S. Their 111" would smoke any 120" out of the MoCo. Their 124"rs, well... AND, they're reliable. Just can't be beat, in my mind.

We are working on a series of crate engines that will be available this fall. Stay tuned...
