Default Can I upgrade a warranty part and pay the difference?

I believe my factory air shocks bought the farm. I am "That guy" who is constantly adding and dumping air in and out of my shocks. Like constantly. With a plus sized wife getting on and off half a dozen times a week, I suspect that is a contributing factor. What is happening is now, every time I dump some air, oil comes shooting out of the fitting! The GOOD news is I got the extended 4 year warranty, so they should be covered under said warranty . If they are, do you guys know if it's possible to pay the difference and have the premium hand adjustable shocks installed??? Have any of you guys replaced a warranty part with an upgraded part, and just paid the difference? Will the Moco go for this? I just can't wrap my head around installing another set of these crappy air shocks, if i can come up with an alternative. Input welcome.

I am sure it depends on the Dealers policy.

Thought you were supposed to pump a little air in to push back the oil before you let air out....

Yeah, I know this really is a question for the dealer, but I am no where near the dealer I use, and am working way to far away during the week to drop by. And I figure just calling to ask will get me little more than a ....... bring it in.

FXR, never heard that. But who knows. All i know is When i press the schrader valve to let air out, my fingers get sprayed with oil.

Oil coming out when you release some air is pretty common and does not indicate the shocks are bad.

Yes I upgraded my speedo when the one on my new bike had a fault. It was about a $20 difference but they didn't charge me.

Oh crap. This is something I didn't even consider. Shocks may not even be an ESP covered part. I need to get to the freakin stealer.

This. I don't use the "press the shrader valve with my thumbnail" method - my progressive suspension pump has a button on it. Pump a couple pounds in, let some out, couple in, more out..., until I get where I want.

Service manual ( my 08 manual) says to pump couple pounds in to clear oil from the lines.

If this is only symptom (oil coming out) I think your shocks are fine - do they hold air over night?
