Ask the dealer where you purchased the bike if they know of any premium take offs. You may also want to firm up the front suspension. Your model comes with a better front suspension than my 13 did. Maybe a fluid change would give you the balance needed to solve your suspension issue. Roads in New England definitely justify suspension upgrades.

I just put a set of 13" HD premium hand adjustables on my SG last weekend. They are perfect for me. The ride and handling is 100 times better than the 12" air shocks. I bought them from a forum member here in the classified but you can get them from an online discount dealer for a little over $400

+1 on this above ^^^ like Scott said, around $400 at 20% off or used for less...

I have a 15 Road Glide Special. It came with the hand adjustable premium ride shocks.

The only complaint I had about the bike was the rear suspension. It was very harsh and bottomed out easy. I'm 6'3" and 240lbs. Riding 2 up was not an option.

Bought the HD Premium shocks ( pn 54000008). These are standard length shocks. Only have about 500 miles on them but difference is night and day.

The bike rides about 3/4 of an inch higher in the rear (no problem, shows my rear wheel better). Also rides great 2 up.

Best mod I have made, and I have done a lot.

I am sure there are better aftermarket shocks out there but for $550.00 I am more than pleased. At almost 4 inches of travel and nice, large coil over springs you cant go wrong.

Important note: Wife loves them too!

There are two scenarios where shocks are concerned, IMHO: mostly solo riding; or riding with a favourite passenger, especially Mrs Rider! If you ride mostly solo then many of the better aftermarket shocks can give an improved ride. If however you take a passenger then only the best shocks will give a truly worthwhile ride.

As for Ohlins, there are zillions of threads about them and many of us, including me, ride with them. If you want the quickest solution with a guaranteed outcome look no further!
