Default Advantages/Disadvantages of ThunderMax and Power Vision

For those who have used or know about these tuners, what are the pros and cons of each of them?

I've used both and like both. One is a replacement ECM and the other is a flash tuner. The biggest reason I chose PV on my last bike was that it was half the price.

I like the pv.. I've used xieds, pc5,and the pv on my bike, 1 of my neighbors has an old throttle pack and the other has the tts.. I have messed with all of then and still prefer the pv.. Dnt talk crap about the tts or its loyalists will have a heart attack and think ur retarded lol.. I'm sure they all have their advantages

I have a thunder max on two bikes. I like the fact that it's a replacement ECM with wide band oxygen sensors for real time feedback and that it auto tunes very well to any configuration of modifications you have now or add latter. The drawback is you have to already have 18mm O2 bungs on your head pipe or have them installed. Other than that it's a matter of reading the tuning manual over to learn the basics.
I don't have experience with the pv although many people on this and other forums have favorable feed back about it. I'm sure either unit will work, it's just a matter of what you decide you want.

I had the ThunderMax on 5 bikes and they all ran excellent. This go round with 2 Rushmore's I went with the DynoJet PV2 and for what we do, simple stage 1 that is all we need. The price of the PV2 is quite a bit less than the Tmax until you add the Advanced Auto Tune module with the wide band O2 sensors to the PV2 then it's about the same. I never felt the need to have any of the bikes Dynoed with either of the tuners, they ran that good. Both have an easy autotune procedure, you use a lap top with the Tmax and a little module or interface with the PV. You can also mount the PV to the bars and monitor gauges with the unit while you're riding. Tmax and DynoJet both have very good support.
Do your Due Diligence and like Skydude said above read the manuals and learn about the tuners. Both Tmax and DynoJet have videos you can watch to help learn how the tuners work.
There is a section of the forum for tuners, you might want to ask the same question there, some of those folks do Dyno Tuning and know what might work best for your set up.
Good Luck

I see no need to replace a perfectly fine Delphi ECM.

For half the cost, unless you are getting WAY radical with a build, the PV2 is perfectly fine with your narrow band sensors.

From what I have read, they both seem to be good tuners but a guy that tunes bikes and high performance engines told me that wide band was better for tuning purposes. Anyone know if that is true? If so, it seems the TMax would end up being cheaper by the time you bought the Power Vision plus the Target Tuner. A mild stage 1 is all I plan on doing right now but who knows what the future holds.

The difference in price is about $35. If all you are going to do now is a Stage 1, why not buy the PV2 and save some money now? In the future, if you decide to do more, you can decide if you need the WB O2 sensors and add them then.
